Our General Meeting has Guest Speakers nine times a year.
Past speakers and their subjects have been:
2024
November: Matt Murphy, a Fireman, part-time Historian and Teacher spoke about his latest book "Rum - A Distilled History of Colonial Australia”, recounting the formative influence of grog on the country.
2025
January: Rebecca Andrews from Ebenezer, NSW spoke on her involvement with an Australian based charity, West Papuan Development Company. WDPC works with West Papuan organisations to help empower indigenous Papuans, providing them with funds and training to improve living standards in their communities.
February: Tony Miller, an expert in the art of Bonsai spoke. He encouraged members who were having a problem with their Bonsai plants to bring them to the meeting gave advice.
April: Our Club Member, Margot Stuckey spoke on her role with The Guide Dogs of NSW Training Centre at Glossodia. Margot was joined by two "Special Guests" (guide dogs and their trainers) during her presentation.
May: Greg de Moore, an Associate Professor of Psychiatry based at Sydney's Westmead Hospital spoke about Tom Wills - flawed genius, sporting libertine, fearless leader and agitator, Australia's first great cricketer - and the man most often credited with creating the game we now know as Australian Rules football.
June: The guest speaker for June was Mrs Preet Chouhan, Customer Care Specialist for Services NSW. Preet’s role as a Savings Finder Specialist is to assist and support customers and communities with savings available by applying for current rebates, vouchers and grants that they may be eligible for.
July: Maureen Bartlett spoke on 'The Book in You'. Her presentation was aimed at sharing up-to-date experiences from the time of deciding to write a book through to publishing, the book launch and marketing.

August: Mrs Preet Chouhan - Customer Care Specialist - Services NSW - will return and speak on 'Preparing for the Seniors Driving Test' - what is involved in the Seniors Driving Test and what we can do to prepare for it.
